What We Believe

What We Believe

About God

We believe in one living and true God who is self-existent, eternal and infinite, who has revealed Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the same in essence though distinct in personality.  (Deut. 6:4; Isaiah 45:21-22; John 1:1-13; Acts 5:3-4; 1 Tim. 3:16; Heb. 1:8-9).

About Jesus

We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal and only begotten Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, of virgin birth, sinless in His life, making atonement for the sins of the world by His death.  We believe in His bodily resurrection, ascension, and visible imminent return to the world according to His promise. (Jn. 3:16; Matt. 1:18-25; Heb. 4:15; 1 Cor. 15:3-4; Luke 24:44; Acts 1:9-11).

About the Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from God to convince the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and by His indwelling, regenerates, sanctifies, and comforts those who believe in Jesus Christ.  The Holy Spirit supernaturally guides us into the truth of the Scriptures and has given gifts to be used in ministry, both in the Body of Christ and the world. (Jn. 16:7-8; Jn. 14:16-21; Jn. 14:25-26;  1 Jn. 2:20-21; 1 Cor. 12:5-11; Titus 3:5.)

About Scripture

We believe in the Bible, including the Old and New Testaments, is the divine revelation, the original autographs of which were verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit, thus rendering them trustworthy and solely authoritative in faith and practice. (II Tim. 3:16, II Pet. 1:20-21).  The Scriptures reveal the mind of God concerning the need and the method of human redemption, the character and destiny of mankind, and are “useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. “ (Jn. 5:39, II Tim. 3:16-17)

About Salvation

We believe that all men by nature and by choice are sinners, ensnared by the subtlety of Satan, but that “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Jn.3:16.  We believe, therefore, that those who receive Christ as Lord and Savior are kept secure in God’s love and will rejoice forever in God’s presence; those who refuse to accept Christ as Lord and Savior will be forever separated from God, and at the judgment of the Great White Throne will be condemned and cast into the Lake of Fire with Satan and his angels.  We believe that every human being is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith.  We further believe that Satan is the enemy of all believers. (Rom. 3:23; Jn. 3:16; John. 3:36; John. 1:12; John 5:24; 1 John. 5:11-13; Heb. 4-15-16; 1 Pet 5:8; Rev. 20:11-15)

About Ordinances

We believe that the scriptures teach us to follow the ordinances, commanded by Christ, of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.  Baptism of believers by immersion in water is a symbol of spiritual baptism, a public, visible, open confession of one’s faith in Jesus Christ as Savior.  It also pictures our identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ when we were baptized into His body, the Church.  (1 Pet 3:21; Acts 2:41; Matt. 26:26-30; 1 Cor. 11:24-30; Eph. 4:5)  The Lord’s Supper is a commemoration of Christ’s body and blood given for the remission of our sin, which allows us to have communion with Him and with one another.  We further believe that we are to examine our communion with Christ and one another at the Lord’s Supper. (1 Cor. 11:24)

About Marriage

We believe that Christian marriage is a sacred institution ordained by God for the happiness of people and the propagation of the human race. It is the spiritual and physical union of one man and one woman; this is the only legitimate sexual relationship sanctioned by God, according to the scriptural ideal, and can only be broken only by death and in the case of adultery.  We also believe any sexual relationship outside of the institution of marriage enjoyed exclusively between a man and a woman is a sin (Gen. 1:26-28; 2:18-25; Lev. 18:22; Matt. 19:3-6; Rom. 1:18-32; 1 Cor. 6:9-10; Eph. 5:22-33; 1 Tim. 1:8-10). Accordingly, this Church, its Pastors, staff and members will not recognize any other union as legitimate marriage; our church and staff shall not perform or participate in any same sex marriages or unions or ceremonies of any kind; and Church facilities shall not be used for such purposes.
